Yesterdays Papers

Hi Everyone!
This week we are making a paper pieced project using some of our oldest papers. I have hoarded so many papers over the years that I am not sure exactly which paper pack is the oldest of them all. These papers from K & Co. that I used today have been in my stash for a while, they were unopened with the price tag still on, so I know that I got them in Illinois (where we lived when I first started "collecting" paper), so they have been in my stash for at least 5 years and 3 moves, before I finally decided to use them today.

The stamps are from Unity from a kit called "Shine Out", and I added the ribbon and a few pearls, but have no idea where either came from.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope that you have enjoyed this weeks paper pieced projects. Eva

Happy Thursday!

This week we are pulling out one of our oldest pieces/packs of paper and paper piecing with it.  I found an old probably my first (or close to it) Basic Grey packs.  I paper pieced it using an old Unity flower.  This flower and sentiment is from an old store kit from a few years ago.

This is what I came up with:

It came our pretty simple but with the colors I think it gives it a nice fall feel.

I hope you are enjoying our daily posts and inspiration to dig into your stamping stash to create with all those supplies you have had forever!

Till tomorrow!

Pieces of the Past....

Hi- Sherry here! This week Maria challenged us to paper-piece and image using our first/oldest patterned paper.  I couldn't find my oldest patterned paper (I know I have it somewhere...lol) but I found paper pretty close to being my oldest.  Petals and Paisleys from Stampin' Up.  I also pulled out an old SU set that I have barely used but have not been able to part with.  It has lots of cute images- Stampin Up Just Celebrate.  The rest of the card is pretty simple and self-explanatory.

I hope you are not disappointed in my CAS card.  I must confess I have had a lot of things on my plate this week so I went basic. But that's the good thing about our blog- we showcase your older items in all kinds of styles, right?  Thanks for stopping by- if you play along feel free to link to one of our posts.  I would love to know what your oldest patterned paper is and see what you can do with it!  ;)

Pieces of my Heart

Hi again - it's Ky here today to share with you my paper piecing project. Don't sprain your tongue! This is an image from Gina K Design's Petals and Wings stamp TV kit. I paper pieced the balloon, basket and heart, and applied flocking to the puffy clouds.

I used some older Basic Grey paper. Maria challenged us to use our oldest, but my oldest was way back in the late 1900s, and it wasn't good enough to hoard! Are you playing along? Link us up so we can see how you roll, old school! Check back tomorrow for more inspiration!

Ta for now,

Piece for Baby

Hi everyone!

Maria's Challenge this week was for us to make a card using paper piecing, using the oldest paper pack that we had on hand.

I had a few supplies left over from the card I made 2 weeks ago.
They both use the oldest paper pack that I have on hand. At least, the oldest that I remember.

I put together another VERY SIMPLE baby girl card.

The middle of the onesie is paper pieced with a cute baby girl pattern.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dream!

Hi Everyone!

It's Eva here today with a card for you.
This paper has been in my stash for quite a while, and I like it so much that it is hard for me to use it. I love these hot air balloons, and the soft color of the paper, it makes me happy to look at it, and I think the "dream" sentiment is perfect for this.

Supplies:
Inkadinkado stamp
Kaisercraft paper
PTI ribbon
EK Success punch

Hope that you all have time to craft this weekend, and don't forget to come back next week!

Happy Birthday Bro!

Hi this is Sherry and I am showing you a birthday card I made for my brother.  Sure, his birthday was Wednesday and I haven't mailed it yet, but at least I made it, right?
For this card I pulled out my old buddy Riley.  I have about 4 Riley stamps that I bought while he was part of Hannah Stamps- so yes, they definitely qualify under the Oldie part.  In fact, this is the first time I used my Prismacolor pencils to color Riley.  Crazy, right?  Back when I bought him I was still using just my SU markers.  A lot has changed since then.

To simulate water I cut SU Pacific Point in a wavy pattern (free-handed) and embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder.  I kept it pretty simple- the HB is from the SU set, "It's Your Birthday" (I think?)  And of course I stamped Happy Birthday on the inside.

I hope he likes it even if it is late.  But then again if I sent someone in my family a card on time they might have a heart attack from the shock- and my brother is getting OLD.  (says the baby of the family who is 10 years younger...lol)  :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday!  One more day until the weekend- AND VSN!  I hope to break out my older supplies and play along- I hope to see you there!

Sunflower Fall

Hi everyone!

It's Kim today and since I dropped the ball with last week's challenge, I thought I would make a
Fall Themed card this week.

I pulled out an old PTI set and made a rustic sunflower card.

Sunflowers always make me think of fall.

The little charm was made using some punches and colored Shrinky Dink.
I can't tell you how long the sheets were in my stamp room, but they are OLD.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you are able to get some inspiration on how to use some of your neglected supplies.
Come back tomorrow to see what Sherry has to show you.

SNOW ANYONE?

This week I stepped away from fall and went right to winter!

I used this penguin which is from Unity and from a few years ago! I found some winter themed paper from an old DCWV pack and the mesh is actually a tape of some sort from the hardware store! I've had it in my stash for a while but haven't used it.

Well I hope you find some inspiring things from our daily posts.  I hope it makes you want to dig into your stash and use what you haven't' in a long time.

Till later!

Time flies...

Are you one who stops to smell the roses or do you prefer to dance like no one's watching? September is half over, and the kids are back in school. We're not to the panicky part of finding Halloween costumes or tying off the last bow for Christmas packages. Right now... might be the last time you have to really look around before we get run over with deadlines, commitments and the hustle and bustle of holidays.

I love autumn because the colors of nature seem to go wild. Spring is pastel, summer is a lotta green, but fall brings in all the colors. I love crisp apples and nights, football with thick sweaters, and fantastic hot beverages.

So, stop for a minute. Look around you, take it all in, savor it. Then grab some inspiration and join us! I hope this cheery image with the bright colors will put some pep in your step. Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow for Kim's project.

Ta for now,

~ky

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!
This week we are working on fall themed cards, and I chose to make a Halloween card, since that is my favorite part of the season.

The stamps I used are from an older Stampin' Up set called Bitty Boos, and I used some purple, orange and black inks from CTMH.

Halloween and the cool morning runs are some of the only things I love about fall. This time of year always makes me feel sad, the trees turn brown, the days get shorter and darker, and I do not like to wear sweaters and boots - I prefer sandals and t-shirts and warm summer days on the beach. So this weekend we are heading to the beach for a weekend of sun (I hope), sand and family fun before it is time to put our sandals away until next spring.

Thank you for stopping by, and come back next week for more ideas on how to use your older supplies.

My Favorite Season

Autumn. I love you so. It's Ky here with some inspiration for you. Our theme this week is fall. I love the way autumn smells. I love the way the store displays start to get a little festive, and the light from the sun reaches that beautiful angle, perfect for beautiful sunsets.

I love pumpkin spice lattes, the scent of wood smoke in the air, comfy sweaters, football...it's just magical to me. So, I made this card from one of the first sets I bought from Gina K. Designs - My Cuppa Joe illustrated by Rupa Shevde. It's a great set for lots of reasons. I hope you've enjoyed the inspiration we're sharing this week. Don't forget to stop by tomorrow to see what Eva has in store for you!

Falling For You!

Hi- this is Sherry with some Oldie Inspiration for you! This week Maria has challenged us to create a Fall-themed card with our our older supplies.  I love Fall but I am sad to see Summer go.  Due to a severely sprained ankle I missed out on a lot of Summer Fun.  But there is still lots of fun things to do and stamping and using my stash of supplies is definitely on that list!
For my card today I used the Unity KOM from September 2010, When I Am With You.  I honestly have not used this kit hardly at all but it has lots of great fall-themed stamps as well as stamps that fit any occasion.

Stamps: Unity KOM Sept 2010 When I am With You
Paper: Gina K Kraft and Chocolate Brown; SU Pumpkin Pie; Samantha Walker DP
Ink: SU Pumpkin Pie; Memento Rich Cocoa (I used the Rock'nRoll technique!)
Accessories: Nestabilities, Sizzix Daisies # 2 die
I hope you have been inspired to dig in your stash and create something NEW with your OLD goodies! Stop by tomorrow when Kyra delights you with eye candy.  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Tuesday!

Hey there folks!  This week we are thinking fall.  I love fall and the crisp cool air it brings!  So with that in mind I found some paper in my stash that I didn't know I had and it had owls on it.  I used the owls in the paper to create this fall themed card:

I'm going to be horrible and tell you I do not know the paper company but I guess that's what happens when things sit in your stash for a long time!  Anyhow, if you recognize it let me know.  The sentiment is by Unity Stamp Co and it's also a stamp I have not used in some time as well!

Well thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Friday!

Hi everyone,
This week I got out some pads of papers that I have had forever, and I challenged myself to pick just one pad of papers and to make stuff until they were all used up. Here are a few cards I made with one piece of paper from that pack

The papers are from Me & My Big Ideas and like I said they are from a long time ago. The stamps are all from Unity - from different sets that I have had for a while too, but none of them had been inked until now. I LOVE Unity, and I am happy to finally use some of the stamps that have been neglected for so long.
Have a happy weekend, and stop by next week for some fun fall cards from everyone!

Tag Time Thursday

Hey there!  This week we do not have a theme or challenge so I decided to make a tag.  I pulled out some paper in my stash and covered the tag with it, then added some paper tape around the edges.  The stamp is by Unity Stamp Co and it's one that has been in my stash for a long time now but it was NEVER inked up!  I thought this would be a good time for that.  On the bottom I used a flattened bottle cap with some Tim Holtz paper inside it and added a dimensional glaze on it.

Here it is:

All in all I used stuff that has been in my stash for a while which is what we are all about here.  So I dare you to go through your stash and perhaps find a stamp you never inked up or that embellishment collection collecting dust!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ahhh September

I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures, autumn leaves, mums, football - all those wonderful memories just waiting to be made! Kids are headed back to school, and our soldiers stationed abroad need a card to send back to their kiddo to let them know they are loved. Yeah, sometimes I think we make a lot of grown up cards for Operation Write Home, but maybe we should make a bigger deal of kid all-occasion cards.

I used Gina K Design's Spring Has Sprung stamp set, illustrated by Rupa Shevde. The set has so many cute, whimsical images and sentiments perfect for kids! This is an old 6 x 6 paper pad from Basic Grey called Lime Rickey. Talk about wild papers! Go pull out some of your older things, and see what you can make. Don't forget to check back tomorrow for more inspiration - be sure to link us up to your work so we can share the love!

Ta for now,

Happy Labor Day!

Sherry here-I hope you are enjoying a long weekend- for once I am too.(yes, I actually have a 3-day weekend!)  It's been quiet but just what I needed.  I will make today's post short but SWEET.  Today's card is another Thank You card (I really need to get these in the mail....) made with the Gina K Designs set- What's the Dirt?  I really love this set and I plan on using it more in the future. I see LOTS of possibilities with it- even though it's been around a little while.  The  designer paper is from my stash and I apologize that I do not know who the manufacturer is. That is kind of what this blog is for- finding supplies in your stash and using them- even if you don't even remember where they came from.  ;)

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope your day is relaxing and if you are working- I totally feel you.  I have worked my share of Holidays to understand.  Thank you for your service!  Have a great day!

Sherry
