And To All A Good Night

Merry Christmas!!  It's that wonderful time of the year when we often find ourselves one present too short, but no time to go shopping. Usually, that's when the cash starts to look appetizing, but the presentation can be lacking.

Faced with this situation myself, I decided to devote just a little time, effort and thought into the packaging of a stash of cash. I needed something for a 13 year old boy who loves his doggie, and loves to give generously to others.

I used a video instruction by Gina K Designs on Stamp TV for making a quick and easy masculine money holder. You can find the video and the measurements HERE. It took less than a half a sheet of cardstock, and just scraps to decorate the panels. I changed up the inside so I would have an overlapping piece of coordinated paper to tuck in the bills.

I love using this set by Tami Mayberry. She created Warm Winter Wishes with her grandmother in mind, and dedicated 100% of her proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association. How's that for a gift that keeps on giving!

I think I'm going to hang this on the tree with the ornaments so it doesn't get lost amongst the ripped papers from other gifts. I might make a game out of helping him find it. Hee hee! Wouldn't that be a fun tradition!

I hope you have enjoyed your holiday festivities, whatever form they take for you. Some of our designers are taking a break this week, and we'll be back in the new year with a new format. Stay tuned!

With warm regards,
~ky

Merry Christmas

Hi all!

It's Kim here, today.

We wanted to wish you a VERY

The above card was made with some Christmas paper
sent to us by Eva.

I hope you all having great time filled with family, friends, and lots of memories.

for-EVA!

Howdy folks! It's Ky here with another little project to inspire you. Eva sent papers out to our team to use this month. How sweet is that? Gifting us during the gift month? Smart cookie, that lady! I enjoyed playing with these papers.

It might be a little hard to see, but there's a ton of glitter embedded in these papers. I do not usually get along with glitter, but I could handle this. So lovely! I used Tami Mayberry's Dreams set (through Gina K Designs) and some distress inks to create the image and sentiment. A few touches of bling, and two colors of matting - Wine with Everything, and Dark Chocolate dress it up just fine. I had to do a little distressing around the focal image because the stamped frame is well worn. Love it!

The sentiment, so appropriate in so many of my dear friends and family's mind, is

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. ~Maya Angelou

I hope your holiday plans are shaping up, and that you have a little time for yourself, to savor the season.

Ta!

Mixing the Old with the New

Hi all!

It's Kim with a really quick card.

Paper is from my stash, that someone sent to me.

Kyra sent me the snowflake.

The paper flower is something I bought, yesterday, at Target.

I meshed the old with the new to create this simple

Christmas card.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Late Friday Post

I made this card yesterday and meant to schedule a post last night, but got busy with the kids and completely forgot, so here is my late Friday post for this week

The stamp is from Unity, and the paper is from Basic Grey, the buttons have been in my stash forever, and I have no idea where they came from.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Happy Thursday!

Is everyone crazy busy with the holiday bustle?  I am a bit trying to sneak some crafty time in there as well.

Today I have a Christmas themed card to share with you using an old Stampin Up stamp.  I don't know what set it is from because I only have the stamp and not the full kit.  If anyone knows what set this was from let me know.

Fellow DT member Eva Strong share with the team some old great pattern papers to use this month in our creations.  The one I used I think may be Basic Grey but I'm not 100% sure.

The "Merry Christmas" Sentiment is from a Tim Holtz clear stamp set.  I used some stickles on santa's hat for some glitzy fun.  Stickles is one product I used to use on EVERYTHING!  I mean my card wasn't complete with out some.  I haven't used it much lately so I thought it was a good time to pull it out again.

Thanks for stopping by today!

CAS Warmest Wishes

Hi all!

It's Kim, with a quick CAS card.

Eva sent us some patterned paper to use, so I cut it into strips and added some flower brad embellishments.
It could pass for a non traditional Christmas card or
a thinking of you card.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tropical Holiday

Hey sweet people! We're transitioning to a new format in January. It's Ky here, sharing a little CAS project for your inspiration.

I used Tropical Windows from Gina K Designs to create this easy card. I employed the thumping technique to get great diversity on the leaves and flowers. If you click the image, you can see it in detail. Don't be afraid to use non-traditional images for a holiday card.

I hope you find inspiration to grab those older stamps and supplies to make something to bring a happy day to someone you love!

Holiday Cheer

It's Kim today.

Sorry for being gone for so long.

Hurricane/Super storm Sandy visited our area and my home was damaged.
Short story - our roof was ripped off the house and the ceiling directly below it collapsed.
We were displaced for about 3 weeks and are just getting insurance approval to get things fixed.

Also, I'm sorry for the fuzzy pic. It was a chore just getting into my stamping area to make a card, but I have needed to create. I missed it. (the room is holding everything that was saved from my girls' bedroom....the damaged room)

It's a quick, easy, no tape Holiday Card.

Snowman Fun

Hey there Stamping With The Oldies Fans!  Maria here today to share with you a snowman card.

I found an old UNUSED christmas set from Inkadinkado in my stash!  It has a snowman, tree, reindeer, santa.  I decided to use the snowman and came up with this super simple card:

Well that's all for now!

Candy Cane Tag

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and that you all got what you wanted at the Black Friday sales. I did make plans to go shopping today, but at the last minute decided to stay home with my family, and to spend some time crafting instead. Here is the tag that I made really early this morning

I used a stamp from Unity and I have no idea where the ribbons are from, they have been in my stash for years. I sponged the red dots using a piece of funky ribbon that was on a present I got a while back, and i think the look goes well with the distressed edges. I added some small gems since it is so hard for me to make anything that does not include some sort of bling.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating today!

This week it is our grungy/distressed week.  SO, I decided to make a tag.  I pulled out some old Unity Stamps and came up with this:

I distressed all the edges for this.  Al the stamped images are from Unity Stamp Co and some were uninked!  They are all from old kit of the month sets.  The buttons are wood buttons I got at Michael's a long time ago as well.  I figured it was about time to make use of these items!

I hope you and yours have a wonderful turkey day!!

Thanks for stopping by!

You Rock!

Happy Friday everyone!
For today I made a card for my oldest son. He has been getting in trouble at home a lot lately, mostly for stuff like having a messy room, not taking out the trash and then there were the two classed where he got a B instead of an A on his report card.  After parent teacher conferences last night where all his teachers praised him for being such a good kid, I started to feel that maybe I have been a bit too hard on him, and want to give him a card to show him how special I think he really is.

The paper I used is from a DCWV stack called Rockstar that I have had for at least 4 years, and the stamp is from A Muse. This was pretty quick to put together since the dp did most of the "work", I just added the sentiment and a few stars and gems. I really like how this turned out and may make a few more similar to this to use for boys birthday cards and to send to OWH.

Loads of Love

Hey there folks!

This week is anything goes here at Stamping With The Oldies!  So I wanted to share this card I made using some old Unity I had and haven't inked up in a while.  Actually I think the "load of laundry" was uninked.

I dug through some old DCWV papers for this as well!  I think these are literally from one of my VERY first packs of DCWV pattern paper that I got at a Joanne's store before they moved their location.  Yikes, that had to be at least 8 (if not more) years ago!

Be sure to go dig through your stuff and find those stamps you never inked or papers you hoarded and never used!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thinking Of You

Welcome to Monday, friends! Hopefully, yours is off to a good start. Ky here, sharing a little manly thinking of you card.

Isn't this lighthouse just adorable against that radiating paper? I colored the images with my Copics, popped the seagull up on foam, and added two brads in the corners for balance.

Hopefully this card will bring you some cheer today. Sometimes, just knowing someone is thinking of you is enough to make it through the day. Have a happy one!

Glitter

Happy Friday!
For this weeks challenge "Baby it's dark outside" I chose to use some of all the glitter I have had sitting around forever. Remember when glitter was the "must have" embellishment for a card? I loved glitter and still do, I just do not use it as much any more, most likely because I have since required so much more stuff to play with than just glitter.

I ran the card through my Xyron and sprinkled it with three different colors of glitter, the sentiment is from A Muse, and I added a red heart for just a pop of color.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a fantastic weekend!

Night bird

Maria here continuing with our theme this week "Baby it's dark outside".  I created this nighttime themed card:

I pulled out some old Memory Box papers and 2 Unity stamps from their Kit of the Month in 2011 I believe.  And these were two stamps I never inked up!

The block with the bird image is one stamp which I paper pieced for the effect.  Not sure how many birds will sit by the moonlight but I thought it looked really cool!

Sorry I missed out last week was dealign with no power due to Hurricane Sandy and on Wednesday of this week we got snow!

Well that's all for now this week!

Starlight

Hello again, it's Ky, back with another 'dark' project. Today is election day, so this will be really short.

I created this using Melanie Muenchinger's Inspiration Mosaic stamp set (through Gina K Designs) released in July 2009. This is a great set to work with because it lends itself to so many applications.

Peace is what I'm wishing for today. Peace for our country, for our neighbors, for our lives. Thank you so much for stopping by on your busy day. See ya!

Baby It's Dark Out There

Hello everyone - it's Ky here today. I have issued the girls a challenge to make a card that represents the dark in 'honor' of the change back to standard time. The girls can choose to make a night scene, just use dark colors, or depict something that lives in the night. It's a pretty open challenge!

So many flights take a long time to get to the destination, and many times, flying coast to coast means you may start out in daytime and land at night.

I used an older set from Tim Holtz. His images really suit my style of crafting. I love all things distressed, but I stayed away from tearing any of this up. This is from the Air Travel set, Stuff to Say, and Steampunk. I stamped the airplane with Embossing Ink, using silver powder to make the surface. I stamped over the cooled embossing powder with Archival Ink to put the details into the plane. The rest is fairly straight forward - distress inks for the ticket, hand and sentiment.

I hope you are looking forward to playing along. Be sure to link us up so we can see what you made!

Ta for now,
~ky

Thanks

Hello, Eva here today.
Just a quick post for you today since everyone in our house is sick with a really bad cold.
My card today was made with papers from my ever growing scrap basket, they are all from the DCVW "Once upon a Time" stack and the stamp I used is from A Muse Art Stamps.

I hope that everyone had a fun Halloween and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is still recovering from the storms this week.
Thank you for stopping by!

Wishes for you

Blogging routines get disrupted from time to time, and today is no different. Hello, it's Ky, stopping by with a post for Maria. Maria has had sporadic power availability from TS Sandy. She's safe, just in case you were worrying about them. So here's a little wish for you all left picking up from Sandy's tantrum.

I used Theresa Momber's set, Whimsical Wishes, from Gina K Designs for this card. I love the bold images and the large sentiment that really grabs your eye. It's a clean and simple design, which you all know is still a challenge for me. I hope you are safe where you are, and that you might play along and share a link to your project. We'd love to be inspired!

Happy Halloween!!

Hi, it's Sherry today.  I have been MIA but I was able to get in the stamp room this week. I love Halloween, don't you?  I just think it is a great time of year and who doesn't like candy?  I have a quick card for you today.  Everything here is definitely at least a year old for sure.  I wish we could use our Halloween stuff all year round, don't you?  It's just fun and reminds me of being a kid with no worries except if I had to wear a coat over my Halloween costume if it was too cold.  ;)
Stamps: PSA Essentials
Paper: PTI Plum Pudding and White; Gina K Black; Basic Grey Eerie Pad
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Ribbon, Twine, Nestabilities, PTI button
I hope you have a great day and gets lots of candy.  If you are recuperating from Hurricane Sandy please know that my thoughts and prayers for your quick recovery are with you.

Have a great day!- Sherry

Eternal Summer

Kim let us have an 'anything goes' week. I think she must have known Hurricane Sandy would be bearing down on us, and we'd need relaxing time to work on easy projects. We are all hoping everyone out there is safe and secure.

Winter is rapidly approaching with some areas seeing snow already. I guess that's why this quote caught my eye and I just knew it needed to be with this wisteria 'tree'. The quote is "There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart." By Celia Thaxter. This photo makes it look a little washed out, but really it's a subtle, vintage aging process that I did with Distress markers and inks.

I have hoarded this paper - it's old Basic Grey (seriously, do I have anything else?), Cappella. This paper just speaks old Chantilly, southern charm and hot French Quarter summers. Hopefully it will take your mind off your current worries, and let you enjoy a steamy cup of rich coffee. Have a great day!

Fall Floral

Hi all!

This week is anything goes, so I thought I would stamp on kraft cardstock.

I love the look of soft colors and images on kraft.

Since we are riding out Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, I made a floral card using fall colors.

Thanks for stopping by!
Make sure to check out what Ky has in store for tomorrow.

A Merry Hallowe'en

Kim challenged us all to make a card with a Halloween theme this week, and while I was looking for some stamps to use for this I came across a bunch of paper that I completely forgot about. To be honest I don't even remember buying this, so it has probably been here for quite a while.

The paper is from Creative Imaginations and had several really cute vintage Halloween images, so I ended up just using one of these. I made the border using a Spellbinders die and added some black gems for a bit of sparkle.

Thank you for stopping by!

Halloween Fun

Hello there!  Maria here today to share a Halloween card.  While cleaning my stamping area today I came across some stamps from Outlines that were brand new and never inked!  2 of them are Halloween stamps so of course I used it for this week's challenge.

I used some old halloween paper in my stash and fibers which I haven't used in forever!

Go look in your stash and I'm sure you will find something that is suitable for Halloween that hasn't been used in a long time!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Spook-o-ween!

Hey friends, it's me, Ky, again. Kim challenged us to make a trick-or-treat themed card. I love this time of year, but I seldom send cards out. Still, I have a few things that I just couldn't resist having in my collection (hoard) for the season.

I love my distress inks, and Tim Holtz could put his name on a can of air and I might have to buy it. KWIM?? Yeah - I see you glancing over at your Holtz-hoard!

All the images are from Tim's Halloween Silhouette stamp set. I also used his paper rosette die, and trimmed it to make a smaller circle. I inked the words stamp with my Distress Markers, then embossed them with the matching die. You can see how they don't match up perfectly, which is perfect for the vintage look! I aged the background with 3 Distress Inks - Antique Linen, Mustard Seed, and Scattered Straw. I sprinkled drops of water and a fine mist over the card to make it look weathered.

I stamped and carefully cut all the creatures, covering the spider in glossy accents. Once I had cut the cat out, I turned it over (you don't want everything facing toward your card fold - hard on the eyes!), colored it with my Copic special black marker, and pasted him down.

I want to give a shout out to my dear friend, Jimmi Mayo - she was so gracious and generous to share some of her old Creative Imaginations paper with me. I used a little of it here. I am hoarding the rest to make my Configurations halloween shadow box. That will have to wait until the studio is complete. Maybe by Easter....

Well, that's all for today. Don't forget to check in tomorrow to see what inspiration we'll have for you.

Happy haunting!

Happy Fright Night

Hi everyone!

This week, I challenged the girls to make a card that has to do with
Trick or Treat night.

They can do anything.
A door, candy, Halloween theme....as long as it has to do with trick or treat.

I pulled out some long forgotten pattered paper that my friend, Jimmi, sent me last year.
I think it is by Echo Park, but I'm not sure.

The jack-o-lantern is stamped and popped up on pop dots, as is the punched corner.
Happy Fright Night is also stamped onto the paper image. (it was part of the patterned paper).

Thanks for stopping by!
Make sure to check back tomorrow

Kim

Gift Card Holder

Hi, Eva here today.
This week I have been working on making some gift card holders for Christmas, since I am sure that we will need several for teachers gifts, family and friends. I have a large stash of double sided Christmas paper and made several of these this week.

I tried making this kind of card before, and found it difficult to do with card stock, but using some double sided paper it was really easy, and came out looking great.

This is the inside, which I kept pretty simple and as you can see it has a pocket for a gift card, cash or even a small treat.

The paper is from K&Co, and the sentiment stamp is from Unity from a set called Christmas Bough.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope that you are inspired to used what you have to make some fabulous new stuff.

Mixed Media Fun

Hey there!

SO I love to work on mixed media on canvas and in journals.  I have been inspired by the art and classes of Christy Tominlinson and Melody Ross.  Today I have a project created on an 8x10 canvas board.

This is using papers I found in my stash I totally forgot about.  I know I purchased it a while ago it's a Melody Ross paper pack.  I think I got it at Joannes but never used it.  All the images I used including the words are from this paper pack.

There is alot of stamping texture on this as well.  On the left I used a Tim Holtz stamp which I had never inked up!  I also used some old Unity on it as well.  Above the word "She" is a metal SU brad I found in my stash which I hot glued to the board.

Well thanks for stopping on by today!  And remember to go through your stash and USE WHAT YOU HAVE!

Till next time!

A Little Midweek Lift

Hi, it's Ky again! I've got a little project here that is just the ticket to lift someone's spirits up. We all struggle with problems in common, yet no one is the same. The uniqueness makes us seek one another out for comfort.

All the patterned paper is Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket. The cardstock is Bazzill. I used two sets, Lovely Labels by Nina Brackett and Inside and Out stamp sets (both by Gina K Designs) were used with Memento inks. Lovely Labels are wonderful - they were created to fit perfectly with several of the most popular Spellbinder's Nestabilities Labels dies. LOVE!!♥ And the edging at the top was cut using Sizzix's Tim Holtz die, Scrollwork.

Fix a card for a friend in need. Use your old stuff with new inspiration. They will appreciate it, and won't care how old your materials are. It will be precious, I promise.

Catch ya later!

Hey Girlfriend!

Hello friends! It's Ky again, here with a little inspiration for you. Do you know there are tons of new challenges on Splitcoast Stampers website? Yeah, the cards we make are sent to MD Anderson for cancer patients to use, and about $6500 worth of prizes being given away, too. The event is known as Hope You Can Cling To or HYCCT. Once you're done here, go check them out! There's a new challenge every day.

My project today was completed for one of those challenges. This is Tami Mayberry's awesome set - You Go Girl, by Gina K Designs. It's filled with great sentiments of encouragement, perfect for Breast Cancer Awareness month, or anytime. It's really easy to paper piece with, too. I've paired it up with more old Basic Grey papers, and a little faux stitching.

Ok - I'm off to play more challenges. If you decide to make something, link it up here, in the comments, so we can enjoy it too! Have a great day!

Ta for now,

Rustic Birthday

Hi!!

No challenge or guidelines today, so I made a rustic birthday card.

My husband's beloved great uncle just celebrated his 90th birthday, and I wanted something simple, yet elegant for him.

I used Sherry's card as inspiration. I really love how she used the weathered background stamp on the kraft cardstock. So, that's what I wanted to use. I haven't inked that up in YEARS.

I think it turned out ok, for a Clean and Simple card.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow and see what else is being made with OLD supplies.

Catching Dreams

Kim challenged us all to use pink this week, and pink is my favorite color, so it should have been a breeze for me. But for some reason it was a real challenge to make something using pink last night, and it took me forever to make a card with pink on it. The stamps I ended up using have been in my stash for years, and I had never used any in this set before, which I will fix now, because all the stamps in this set are amazing.

The stamp is from Unity from the Love Life kit, papers are from Gina K, Stampin' Up, and PTI. The twine is also from PTI, flower from Petaloo, and I think that the pins are from May Arts.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Happy Thursday!

Hey there folks!  This week we are to use Pink so I pulled out some cool blooms from Websters Pages that I have had in my stash for some time,  I decided to keep it simple and make a big flower on a square card.

I added a Gina K Designs butterfly in the middle with a saying from the Take Flight set.  I hadn't used this set in some time and thought it would work well.  I think the bloom looks great but I'm not sure about the paper pieced butterfly.

Anyhow,  go dig in your stash and use something that you haven't in some time!  We buy this stuff to use it!

Happy Thursday!

One Layer Scares Me

I loved Kim's project from yesterday - she used her stamps to make her background. I'm doing something similar, but of course, it is one of my most uncomfortable techniques - the ONE LAYER card!

The key to making a great one-layer card is choosing the perfect stamp set and layout. I used Theresa Momber's set Whimsical Wishes from Gina K Designs, released in June of 2011.

I placed my Spellbinder's die on the card blank, and embossed it using the tan rubber mat. I used the die as a mask and blended on Spun Sugar distress ink leaving just the middle with very little ink. This gives a glowing effect to your image.

Next, I stamped the flower in Picked Raspberry distress ink. I put my distress pens to the rubber for the leaves and stems using the thumping technique. I huffed on the image a few times to remoisten the ink, and stamped it. The sentiment (I just adore the size of this stamp - it's perfect for single layer projects!) was inked in Picked Raspberry distress ink and stamped. I added some Bling It from Basic Grey, and there you go!

Thanks again for stopping by - I hope we have inspired you to give a little lovin' to your older products, and share your projects with us. We'd love to see what you make!

Ta for now,

PINK for October

Happy Monday!!

This week I challenged all of the ladies to use PINK on their cards!

It didn't have to be the entire card, just somewhere.

Those that know me know I LOVE pink and kraft together.

SO.....that is what I used.

I paired a PaperTrey Ink set with some pink, kraft, white, and chocolate to make a simple and elegant birthday card.

Make sure to stop by tomorrow to see how Ky used PINK!

Mixed Messages

Hi, Sherry again here today!  Today's card is made with several old sets from 3 different companies.  Unfortunately, I was in need of a a Sympathy card.  A co-worker's wife passed away and of course no words can bring comfort but hopefully one day he will know he was thought of.
I stamped SU's Weathered on Gina K Kraft card stock (my favorite base CS here lately) in SU Close to Cocoa.  The sentiment is stamped with PTI Enchanted Evening.  I still have quite a few of their Pallette inks. I've heard some stampers have had issues with the inks, but mine are still stamping perfectly.  They are at least 3 years old.  I'm not complaining!  The image is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Prismacolor Pencils.

Stamps: SU Weathered BG, Thoughts of Father; PTI and Random Unity
Paper: Gina K Kraft; MFP Pensacola Sand
Ink: SU Close to Coca; Memento Rich Cocoa; PTI Enchanted Evening
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils; Nestabilities
As you can see I did a lot of mixing up of brands to get the card I wanted.  I used to feel I had to use all the same company stamps (or even the same set) on a card - especially when I was on Design Teams. I am enjoying the freedom of using whatever I want out of my supplies.  It's really fun to mix and match.  I hope I have inspired you to mix it up also.  Tomorrow is WORLD CARD MAKING DAY- so pull out your old supplies and have some fun!!

Tag Your It...

Hey there friends!  Today I have a tag to share with you.

I hand cut the tag using white cardstock.  All the pattern papers are papers that were just hanging out in my stash.  The cute image is by My Favorite Things and it is one that has been in my stash for a LONG time but I NEVER inked it up!  Well it was about time don't you think?

I paper pieced her dress and the mushroom and I added some stickles to her wings and wand.  I hope this inspires to find that stamp you bought a long time ago but NEVER used it!

Till tomorrow!

CAS Wednesday

Eva here today, and this week I have been working on cards for OWH so I can send a box full of cards to them by the end of the week.
I have been trying to make more cards for kids, and I made a few using these cute stickers that I have had for a while.

I love this little monkey, and I hope that he will help bring a smile to someone who is missing their mom or dad while they are deployed.

Supplies:
K & Co. sticker
A Muse sentiment stamp
Crate Paper "Toy Box Collection" dp
